Video, or something very much not unlike it (or tea)… Part III

Lastly, one last past video appearance remains…

The year is now 2011…

A year after The Undoing short film was released on DVD in 2010, Trevor R. Todd wanted to have a documentary made about himself and found a dude named Patrick. I think he was a film student, can’t remember now, but was an aspiring filmmaker at least…

I appear in footage culled from the Premiere Night featurette and a new interview about the origins of The Undoing (2009) short film that includes Trevor.

The resulting video documentary ended up being a source of controversy…

When Patrick had finished what I at first thought was a first edit of the doc, he showed it to me…

I thought that it had many of the elements,  style-wise, of what I had seen in first-rate documentaries…

BUT –

two interviews in particular, one with Trevor’s dad and another with his friend and his then-band’s drummer Greg (who also appears in The Undoing as his movie character’s band’s drummer) took a tack that wasn’t consistent with how I personally know both of them…!

There seemed to be a tilt to the flow of parts of Patrick’s doc that were unnecessarily and unfairly NEGATIVE about Trevor! He has enough real drama and interesting things going on in his life that any invention or tilting of facts or thoughts about him were completely UNNECESSARY.

When Patrick asked me what I thought about the documentary, I was honest and told him – asking if this was the first edit AND if Trevor had seen this version…

Suddenly and nervously, Patrick got all sorts of defensive and saying that he “wasn’t going to change it, this was it’s FINAL version and rambled on about how documentaries only capture reality and blah blah blah, even though, it was obvious – even before I had heard that both Greg and Trevor’s dad weren’t happy with the negative tilt that emerged (Trevor even LESS so!)… Felt they were a bit used there… *meh* Patrick had posted the video, then took it down for a long while…

Trevor posted a clip of it though, but only that part that contained the interviews with him and myself about how we met at a Trash Film Orgy show in 2003, some five years before randomly meeting again, by chance, at Loree’s Little Shack on Greenback in Citrus Heights in August of 2008…

(Note: It should be added, that in the interview, I had accidentally said that it had been an EIGHT-year gap in-between meeting Trevor (2003 / 2008), instead of the five (and some months) chrono-divide that it actually was… I woulda looped that or had some on-screen text to correct it, but oh well…)
